All businesses who plan to sell and store fireworks for Diwali and/or Bonfire Night are reminded that they need an up to date explosives licence enabling them to safely store fireworks. Woman's death in Houghton le Spring House Fire

On Wednesday 26th September, we were called to a house fire at the Aged Miners Home, Houghton le Spring. Upon searching the property firefighters tragically discovered a deceased woman. Twelve firefighters in three fire engines from Rainton Bridge, Sunderland Central and Farringdon Community Fire stations were sent to the property arriving on scene at 09:54 to discover a well-developed fire.
