Public meetings
written by Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue on the 06th November 2013 at 12:44

Local residents are being encouraged to attend one of a number of public meetings, organised by Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, about its proposals to change the way it responds to incidents. The Service has organised two public meetings for each of the five local authority areas in Tyne and Wear so the public can have their say as part of the consultation process. Details of all public meetings can be found within the attached document. Chief Fire Officer Tom Capeling, Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service said: “I would encourage local residents and businesses to come along to one of the meetings to find out more about the options and to let us know what they think about them. We really want to hear people's views and their suggestions. “Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service is one of the best and fastest fire and rescue services in the country and we want to continue to be. In developing these options our objective has been to maintain our quick response to incidents where lives are at risk and where there is significant risk to property. However to do this we need to change the way we operate and will be slower in attending other incidents, such as deliberate secondary fires and false alarms.” The consultation document is available here. Anyone who is unable to attend one of the public meetings can let the Service know their views in a number of other ways: by taking part in the online survey on the Service's website, emailing their comments to [email protected], telephoning 0191 444 1529 or by writing to.
