Wayne Norris, who works from Leigh Community Fire Station and is part of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS), is continuing his personal fundraising mission and on Friday, January 27, 2017 he headed to his local gym and spent 12 hours on a treadmill.

34-year-old Firefighter Norris, who lives in Blackpool, said: “I have completed a number of charity events over recent times to raise money and awareness of issues that surround mental illness and highlight some of the issues that emergency service workers deal with.

“My latest charity mission was a little bit different from others I have tackled, and saw me spend 12 hours on a treadmill, while wearing my fire-kit and carrying breathing apparatus.
“There was some amazing support from colleagues from other organisations, who encouraged me along. I hopefully achieved what I set out to do – which is to raise awareness of mental health issues and encourage people to be more open about their feelings.

“I'm raising money for Mind, Mind Blue Light and The Fire Fighters Charity, and in June will again be taking on Mind Hike and trekking 40 miles.”

You can show your support for Wayne’s chosen charities by donating online: www.virginmoneygiving.com/waynenorris1 or by texting NOZA99 and amount in pounds to 70070.
